We encourage the children to follow our Christian ethos and to live by these values in the way that they interact with each other and in their attitude to learning.
We also teach the children how to develop the characteristics needed to be a successful learner and use an engaging family of ‘Achievosaurs’ in school. Our Achievosaurs support the children to; explore their environment and be curious, ask questions to find things out, try their best and never give up, stick at tasks and persevere, think carefully about their learning and share ideas and resources. Children are praised specifically when they demonstrate these characteristics and are encouraged to develop these qualities.
Explorasaurus Rex ‘I am exploring everything around me’
Askaraptor ‘I ask questions and find things out’
Tryatops ‘I try my best and never give up’
Stickosaurus ‘I stick at tasks and persevere’
Thinkodocus ‘I think carefully about what I learn’
Shareosaurus ‘I share my ideas and resources’
Ask your child which Achievosaur they have been in school today!
To complement our Christian and Learning values we are also encouraging the children to use a growth mindset attitude towards what they can achieve. Much research has been carried out to suggest that it is attitude not ability that determines how well someone does at school and in work. We will be reminding children that it is ok to find something difficult, and that mistakes help you to learn something new. If you can’t do something, remember you can’t do it YET! You will be amazed at how much you can achieve!
