Welcome to Our Councils page, please see below for more information.
Our School Council is representative of each class in our school. The children vote for a child in their year group who will speak for them. They consider aptitudes such as willingness to take responsibility, the ability to speak in front of others, and enthusiasm to become a leader who will work with staff to make our school a better place.
Meetings have an agenda and are chaired by our Key Stage 2 children. The debates are lively and the ‘chair’ ensures that everyone has a chance to be heard. Each child has an opportunity and a responsibility to bring to the meeting any matters that other children in the rest of the school are concerned about or wish to bring to the attention of the Council. Mrs Faithfull supports our School Council.
We are immensely proud of the maturity and commitment our School Council members show. They have led a variety of endeavours organising fund raising, coordinating improvements and above all represented all the children both in and out of school with pride and accomplishment.
The role of our Sports Council, supported by Mrs Baines, is to develop Sport and PE throughout the school including lessons, lunchtimes, after school clubs and links within the community. The Sports Council actively promote healthier lifestyles and take a lead in encouraging other children to work as part of a team recognising the contributions of each individual and ensuring children find ways of improving practice to achieve personal bests.
Our Year 4 Worship Committee meet with Mrs Faithfull, and at times Reverend Robert to help plan, lead and suggest ideas for our daily acts of worship. The Committee’s primary aim is to make Collective Worship engaging for their peers and to act as excellent role models who actively promote our Christian ethos. The children are involved in choosing stories, songs and prayers to support our Christian values. Our Committee members play a crucial role in the continuing improvement of our Church School.
